Photo showing just one of the many benches on the banks of the beautiful River Spey. Alongside a wooden stand for fishing rods, and a handy landing net. This is where I walk before and after work at the gallery every day - how lucky I am! Hello and welcome. I hope this finds you well and enjoying all the signs of spring. The abundance of blossom, the fresh greens on all the trees and birdsong from dawn till dusk. Admittedly, there are still quite a few hail showers around to keep us on our toes. Still, there’s plenty of daylight and lots of lambs in the fields and walks by the river to enjoy. 'Come Awa' In'The gallery and shop and studio space is now all set up and we’re well settled in. That’s not to say I don’t reorganise things every so often - of course I do. There have been plenty of visitors, both local and from further afield. From all over the world, in fact. It’s been lovely to have conversations with a wide range of people - everyone has a story to tell. There are some new additions to the offerings - including printed pouches, scarves, aprons and backpacks, all bearing my designs. Some of these are also available in my website shop. I’m particularly happy with the scarves - vivid colours, really big, soft and floaty! Opening hours are slightly erratic just now, while we finish moving home. Mostly, we’re open Thursday - Saturday 11am - 4pm. Sometimes also on a Sunday. If the sign is out on the street - we’re open! I do keep our Facebook and Instagram accounts up to date, so please check there if you happen to be travelling to visit. North East Open StudiosIn other news, I’m looking forward to taking part in North East Open Studios this September. I really enjoyed being part of it for many years while I was living in Aberdeen, so it makes sense to join in again. I’ll be showing my work in our wee gallery, ‘Come Awa’ In’, in the centre of Aberlour. I’ll have lots of sketchbooks on show as well, and some work in progress too, if all goes to plan!
Dates for your diary - NEOS - Sat 12th - Sun 20th September The gallery will be open every day 10am till 4pm except *Closed on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th September (so I can visit other participants). Look forward to seeing you then, if not before!

I hope this finds you well and having survived the winter. I know it’s not completely over yet, but there are signs of spring all around. Snowdrops galore in the graveyard by Gairloch beach and tulip leaves appearing hopefully in pots at the back door. We’ve had better weather than much of the country in recent weeks, for which we’re thankful! Some new work is emerging, inspired by recent visits to Speyside. These are some work in progress linoprints, inspired by the clock tower in the middle of Dufftown. To be continued. We're on the move!In other news, the move east is happening sooner than we’d expected - next weekend, in fact! A few things came together to make this happen. We’ve found great premises right in the middle of Aberlour, with gallery/shop and studio space. It’s going to be called ‘Come Awa’ In’ Gallery & Gifts (you probably guessed that already). I’m really looking forward to getting it all set up (especially the studio space…). Also, Iain will be working at Aberlour distillery, doing whisky tastings and tours. We’ll be renting a house until our one sells (more on this later). There will be all my ‘usual’ offerings on show - original art, framed and mounted, greetings cards, mugs, coasters, sketchbooks and art materials. Also some short story and poetry books. Iain’s photography will also be on show - framed, mounted and work on canvas and aluminium, as well as greetings cards. The new gallery and gift shop will be opening sometime in late March. I’ll keep everyone posted via Facebook and Instagram. The address is : First Floor, Speyside House, The Square, Aberlour, AB38 9PX It’s right in the middle of the village, on the corner of The Square and the High Street, above the Plum Garden Chinese takeaway. Look forward to seeing you there soon! Bridge Cottage Art CafeThe main question we’ve been asked at the cafe, when we’ve told people that we’re leaving, has been whether it will stay open. The answer is yes, it will, very much so! My daughter, Ailsa, and her good friend Ruth, who has worked with us for the past two years, will be running it from the start of March. I’m sure they’ll put their own stamp on it and it will go from strength to strength. A small selection of my work will still be available in the cafe. House for saleLast but not least - if you, or anyone you know, is interested in a lifestyle change and fancy moving to a fantastic location in the northwest Highlands, just 6 miles outside Gairloch - here’s the house! Please feel free to share - thanks!
