I hope this finds you well and having survived the winter. I know it’s not completely over yet, but there are signs of spring all around. Snowdrops galore in the graveyard by Gairloch beach and tulip leaves appearing hopefully in pots at the back door. We’ve had better weather than much of the country in recent weeks, for which we’re thankful! Some new work is emerging, inspired by recent visits to Speyside. These are some work in progress linoprints, inspired by the clock tower in the middle of Dufftown. To be continued. We're on the move!In other news, the move east is happening sooner than we’d expected - next weekend, in fact! A few things came together to make this happen. We’ve found great premises right in the middle of Aberlour, with gallery/shop and studio space. It’s going to be called ‘Come Awa’ In’ Gallery & Gifts (you probably guessed that already). I’m really looking forward to getting it all set up (especially the studio space…). Also, Iain will be working at Aberlour distillery, doing whisky tastings and tours. We’ll be renting a house until our one sells (more on this later). There will be all my ‘usual’ offerings on show - original art, framed and mounted, greetings cards, mugs, coasters, sketchbooks and art materials. Also some short story and poetry books. Iain’s photography will also be on show - framed, mounted and work on canvas and aluminium, as well as greetings cards. The new gallery and gift shop will be opening sometime in late March. I’ll keep everyone posted via Facebook and Instagram. The address is : First Floor, Speyside House, The Square, Aberlour, AB38 9PX It’s right in the middle of the village, on the corner of The Square and the High Street, above the Plum Garden Chinese takeaway. Look forward to seeing you there soon! Bridge Cottage Art CafeThe main question we’ve been asked at the cafe, when we’ve told people that we’re leaving, has been whether it will stay open. The answer is yes, it will, very much so! My daughter, Ailsa, and her good friend Ruth, who has worked with us for the past two years, will be running it from the start of March. I’m sure they’ll put their own stamp on it and it will go from strength to strength. A small selection of my work will still be available in the cafe. House for saleLast but not least - if you, or anyone you know, is interested in a lifestyle change and fancy moving to a fantastic location in the northwest Highlands, just 6 miles outside Gairloch - here’s the house! Please feel free to share - thanks!

I hope this finds you safe and well and able to enjoy a little freedom at last. I have a few pieces of news to share. Poolewe Tuesday Market I am delighted to let you know that the wonderful Poolewe Tuesday Market started up again on 18th August. This was thanks to the meticulous planning and hard work of the organisers. Of course it is a bit different, with a limited number of stalls each week, a takeaway cafe (some weeks) rather than a sit-in one and a limit on numbers allowed in to the hall at any time (currently 20 visitors). It was so good to be out and about (wearing one of my own mask designs, of course) and talking to people face to face again. I will be at the market every Tuesday (except 22nd September) until the end of October. It's open 10am - 2.30pm every Tuesday in Poolewe Village Hall. Masks Since it seems that face coverings will be with us for a while yet, I've set up a number of my designs (over 100) to be available on masks from Redbubble. I've bought a few of these myself and find them very comfortable to wear. I've been wearing the Sweet Peas one (shown below) at the Poolewe Tuesday Market and have had some kind comments (and requests to purchase). There's 20% off when you buy 4. I've been interested to see various designs appearing - it's a good way to show a bit of your personality, when your smile is not on show! Stockists I'm happy to let you know that several of my local stockists have recently reopened their doors - carefully and cautiously, of course. The GALE centre in Gairloch is open again, (10am - 5.30pm, every day except Saturday) offering teas, coffees and cakes and a range of gifts, as well as information about the local area. Gairloch Museum is also open (10am - 5pm, Tuesday - Saturday) with visits by appointment only for now. They have produced a useful video to show you what to expect when you come to visit. Loch Torridon Community Centre Gallery is open again too : Monday - Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm. I have some original work on show, here, including small, mounted works, as well as a range of greetings cards. The Wee Whistle Stop is providing refreshments at this lovely venue. Check their Facebook page for opening times. Cabinet, the lovely wee gift shop within the An Talla Solais gallery in Ullapool, has also just reopened. They are a new stockist for me, with a range of my mugs, coasters, keyrings and greetings cards (mainly with a nautical theme) available. Open Tues-Sat, 10-1 and 2-5. New Stockist
Delighted to say that the Button Bothy, located within Poolewe Village Hall, is now stocking a range of my greetings cards. This is a gem of a shop, selling jewellery, buttons galore, scarves and other gifts, and also providing access to Ron's Book Bothy with an eclectic mix of vintage books, prints, charts and maps. In the meantime, if you're not in the northwest Highlands or aren't planning to visit anytime soon, I have a wide range of items available in my website shop. Many thanks for your continued interest in my work - it is greatly appreciated. If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch via the Contact page on my website. wishing you all the best Jennifer |
